Queer Representation & Visibility in the AIDS Crisis

For the final capstone project in my graduate qualitative research methods course, I set out to examine the differences in the ways that queer people sought to define their own visibility versus mass media representation during the AIDS crisis. I used an analytical coding method to track the genealogies of relevant ideas that pervaded the political and social spheres at the time.
